History & Course Overview
Kingston Heath Golf Club is internationally renowned for its understated beauty and strategic brilliance, defined by superbly crafted greens and some of the finest bunkering found anywhere in the world.
Designed by Dan Soutar and constructed by one of golf’s unsung heroes, Mick Morcom, the course officially opened in 1925. At the time, it measured 6,800 yards and played to a par of 82, making it one of the longest and most demanding courses in Australia.
Shortly after opening, the legendary course architect Dr Alister MacKenzie visited Kingston Heath, leaving an enduring legacy. MacKenzie devised the bunkering scheme, refined several holes, and designed the now-famous 15th hole — a masterpiece that remains one of the most admired par 3s in world golf.
Today, Kingston Heath is revered not for dramatic elevation or water hazards, but for its subtlety, strategic angles, and fast-running Sandbelt turf. It consistently tests the world’s best players while remaining an endlessly fascinating challenge for golfers of all abilities.

Signature Holes
15th Hole — Par 3
142m (Men) / 113m (Women)
The signature hole at Kingston Heath and one of the most celebrated par 3s in world golf. Played uphill to a green fiercely protected by deep, steep bunkers at the front and right, accuracy is paramount. The centre of the green is the only safe target, with the surface sloping gently from back to front — leaving the ball above the hole demands a delicate touch.
9th Hole — Par 4
330m (Men) / 276m (Women)
A semi-blind par 4 where vegetation tightens the visual corridor from the tee. Bunkers guard the fairway just beyond the apex of the dogleg. A long iron to the centre of the fairway, leaving a controlled wedge approach, is the preferred strategy. In a strong northerly wind, this hole becomes especially demanding. The green slopes subtly to the right with gentle undulations.
3rd Hole — Par 4
269m (Men) / 209m (Women)
Short in length but rich in challenge, this par 4 demands precision rather than power. The small, angled green is heavily protected by deep bunkers. Playing to the left side of the fairway opens the ideal angle for a delicate 60-metre pitch to a firm surface. Shots finishing short and left of the pin provide the most manageable putts.
